Purpose of Initiative

Flashpoint creates better startups, faster.  We welcome committed founders with domain knowledge and a passion for responding to the needs of their customers, and help them shape startups with true market/product fit, reduced risks, lower costs, and a better chance of high quality success. Flashpoint is not an incubator or accelerator; it is a rigorous management and education program that works closely with founders to create companies.

Eligibility

Flashpoint is open to all Georgia startups, with first priority given to technology companies. Atlanta is a great place for e-commerce, internet security, materials, consumer health, medical devices, computing, robotics, financial transactions, and logistics. With our connections to Georgia Tech and the Atlanta corporate community, we look for teams we think we may strongly advantage by providing access to resources in our networks.

Application Process

Information on the application process can be accessed here.

Award Details

Flashpoint filters and accepts about a dozen into a cohort. Every team receives funding (about $25k for about 8%), enough to do the work without taking too much dilution.

Application Process

If you’re a researcher seeking to commercialize a discovery or invention, contact the GRA Ventures representative on your campus.

Proposals will be subject to a two-step review. An initial review is conducted by GRA Ventures staff, followed by an independent review. The review of all Phase I, II and III proposals will be by an independent committee of reviewers whose members are selected

by GRA based on relevant industry and equity investment experience. Reviewers for each proposal are selected from this pool according to their specific industry experience. All proposals are reviewed and initially triaged by GRA as eligible for review or needing additional information prior to review. Each proposal is evaluated by at least three reviewers. A proposal scoring template will be used to guide proposal reviews.

Developing Network Contacts (DevNC)

When you need to reach out...

There are times when you need to reach out to others – whether you are looking for potential customers, potential partners, or potential investors. But who should you call…and how do you address your fear of contacting them. The DevNC is a unique market research tool designed to provide you with between 25 and 30 Points of Contact (PoC). With each POC, information is included that provides insight about the person’s role. Depending on their position, other information commonly included relates to their background, articles that they have written, conference presentations and other pertinent information. This type of information enables you to customize your correspondence. Contact information is also included  – typically LinkedIn, email and phone number.

Competitor Analysis

Your customers know your competitors! Do you?

Maybe you believe that you don’t have any competition, but your customers know better! Their needs are being addressed now – perhaps not as well, but if there is a need, someone is providing a solution. Learn about the competition and be prepared to differentiate your solution from that of others. Dawnbreaker’s competitor analysis contrasts your competition on specifications, performance and price. Armed with this information we can help you create a compelling value proposition.
